Why I Started Blogging
Six years ago I started blogging and I’m always asked why I started blogging. You see when I first started blogging it was a lot different from how it is today. This was before Pinterest and before Bloggers openly discussed making money from blogging.
I’m not sure where the idea came from of starting a blog. I loved so many blogs like Chic Little House and Nneeka Saran. I would always check their blog to read about their upcoming posts and family updates. I loved how crafty they were and all the ideas that they would come up with for their blog. At some point in Graduate school. I promised myself that I would start blogging as soon as I was done with Graduate school. You see, I was finishing graduate school in August of 2011 and I honestly didn’t want the additional responsibilities of being a Blogger while still in college. I knew that I would want to post on a weekly basis. However, being a full-time student, employee, mom etc. I just didn’t see that happening. I really wanted to give blogging my undivided attention.
Making It Happen
The last day of school came and once the semester was closed out and grades were posted. Within a couple of weeks, September 15, 2011, to be exact, when I started Our Delightful Home. Honestly, I don’t remember writing my first blog post. But I honestly don’t, I think I had to look through my blog to see when I actually wrote my first blog post and boy did I’ve come a long way.
For people that know me in my personal life would say that maybe I am a DIY addict. I have a passion for creating recipes and doing DIY projects. What appeared to be a dreed task for some. Is a passion for me.
I created Our Delightful Home. Which is now SimplyTasheena as a creative outlet for myself. I’m a very personal person. However, I wanted a place to display all hobbies and also be in a community with like-minded individuals.
What’s Next?
The possibilities are endless with blogging and that’s something that I truly love about the community. I will say that it’s ok to change your blogging niche and don’t feel forced to select a category. I’ve met so many amazing people along this journey and I’m just really thankful for the experiences I’ve had thus far.
