I hope your New Year is going great so far. I made it my business to invest in a business coach once I wanted to take my business to the next level. She taught me a lot of what I know today about my holiday marketing campaign. Prior to the holidays, I made it very clear to my clients of my expectations the holiday season.
You don’t have to have a sale every holiday. Did you notice anything different this past year with Apple’s Black Friday sale? They decided not to participate in the Black Friday festivities. Guess who also didn’t participate, Chanel, Louis Vuitton etc. You get the point right? If this is your first year in business. You may want to decide what holidays will work for your business. If you did a sale for Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday. What sale  offer generated more sales for your business? Maybe next year you will only offer a sale on Black Friday or Cyber Monday or even allow the sale to run from Friday- Monday. If you did have Black Friday sale or gave services away for free. This is not any shade towards you. The amazing part about being a business owner is that you live and you learn.
I think of it just like Groupon’s. Some business owners are against their services on the site. However, I have found some really awesome business, and now for that one discount they have a life long customer. When you are thinking about your marketing calendar. You want people to be stalking your site/ emails to see when your next sale is.You do not want people to say “Here’s another email from X”. Strategically plan sales out. Don’t just throw things out there because you see other people doing it. Do what works for your business. Over time, you will be able to decrease the sales you offer because you will have your community already established…
Have you noticed Jimmy Choo and Gucci only has one sale a year? Yes, it took them time to establish that type of relationship. However, I’m sure they strategically plan things out as well. Never feel that you are too small to plan like the big companies. “If you want to live big you have to think big.”
Question: Did you use Bitly? were you tracking data? (if not, you may want to know where your clients are coming from-Just my two cents)
Anywho, Part of me wants to say that I can’t believe that it’s already December. The other half of me is like “Girl, time waits for no one.” if 2016 is your year and you need some assistance with strategically planning out your business. My door is always open for you.
